Why should I use ChemTutor? Why not some other tool?
We developed ChemTutor because students need to practice specific types of problems before they step into a college-level chemistry course. The best way to learn is to practice content. This site is specifically designed for that.
What should I do if I get stuck on a problem set?
If you are having difficulty with a problem set, try watching or re-watching the tutorial video covering the problem set. It also may help to work through the modules sequentially if you have skipped individual modules

What do I do if I forgot my username?
Go to the My Progress page. If you are logged in, click logout. On the login screen, click the forgot username link and enter your email. Your username will be sent to your email.
I’m not receiving the validation email for my account. What should I do?
- Wait 10 minutes.
- Check your junk or spam mail.
- Ensure you registered the correct email address. After logging into ChemTutor, you can see the email address where a confirmation email was sent.
What do I do if I registered the wrong email address?
If you registered the wrong email address, wait 24 hours for your validation link to expire. Once your validation link expires, your registration will be deleted and you can register for a new account.
I’ve forgotten my password. How do I reset my password?
Go to the My Progress page. If you are logged in, click change password. If you are logged out, on the login screen, click the forgot password link and enter your email. Check the link sent to your email to go to the reset password page.
I know my password. How do I change my password?
Go to the My Progress page. Log in, click change password. You will be brought to the change password page. Type in a new password.
I want to change my username or email.
Once your account is validated, you cannot change your username or email.
Can I share this site with students outside my college?
At this time, the system is set up for students with student ID numbers at Birmingham-Southern College, Rhodes College, Rollins College, and Washington & Lee University only.
How do I turn video captions on or off?
While a video is playing, hover your mouse above the video to show the YouTube menu options for that video. In the lower right hand corner of the screen is a CC button. Click the CC button to toggle captions on or off.
How do I view a video transcript?
To view a transcript for a video, click on the video title. You will be directed to the YouTube page for the video. Click more options shown as “…” and click Open Transcript. This allows you to watch a video while viewing a transcript. You can click within the transcript to go to the point in the video where that line is spoken.
Can I view the videos while working on a problem set?
Yes, you can. To do so, open up a new window or tab and go to the preferred ChemTutor page.
Can I work on two problem sets at the same time?
No, you must work on only one problem set at a time. However, there is nothing stopping you from ending a problem set early and going to a different problem set.
